 | We recall
being contacted by a person claiming to work for Yelp, who periodically
solicited us with advertising on yelp. Statements made directly implied
that our negative reviews would be pushed down (made invisible),
positive reviews will be made more prominent - all these in addition to
having our business listing dominate the automotive repair service
category in our market area. |
During the same period, there have
been numerous other start-ups coming to life like Angie's List , FriBay (link to the profile on VentureBeat - link
opens in a new window), InsiderPages , Judy's Book , Yellow Bot , Yellow Pages, & many other early
initiatives by legacy directory listings. Given the vast amount of
advertising opportunities via online listing directories, we had decided
at that time to let the marketplace mature & declined to
subscribe to Yelp's paid program.
