Like many automakers based in Asia, the last couple of years have been a bit of a struggle. With natural disasters that led to falling market shares, it's no surprise to hear that many automakers have plans to make a comeback in 2012. Toyota used the 2012 North American International Auto Show as their jumping-off point this year, despite the setbacks of the last two years.
Managing Director of Toyota Canada, Stephen Beatty, says, "We want to convey the new spirit of Toyota...When you look back over the last couple of years, there was a need for us to demonstrate that the company is on the move, that we haven't walked away from the core qualities of durability, reliability and fuel efficiency."1 He goes on to say that this spirit starts from the very top of the company, with the CEO of Toyota, Akio Toyoda, "He's wanting to make sure that every vehicle we produce now has that sense of style, passion and excitement."2
Toyota arrived in Detroit with many new concepts, including the Toyota NS4, a new hybrid that boasts sports car style and performance with the gas-mileage of a Prius. The automaker also confirmed that by springtime, they'll have more small cars in their lineup than most of their competitors - ten in all!
You can be sure that all of the 2012 Toyota models now available at Magnussen's Toyota of Palo Alto capture the invigorated spirit and performance set forth by Toyoda.
