Toyota Motor Sales USA has announced a recall to correct sticking accelerator pedals on specific Toyota models (see the Models list below), and to halt temporarily the sale of the same new models. Toyota of Palo Alto would like to extend to each of our Service Customers an opportunity to most efficiently determine whether Your Vehicle will need repair.

Vehicles with a VIN number starting with J are NOT at issue. Specifically, if you have the Denso pedal no repair will be necessary. If you have the CTS pedal, if you would like us to, we can do a Safety Check as well as check for smoothness of operation, to assure the vehicle does not have a mechanical failure at this time. We will also advise you, the Customer, as soon as Repair Information is released. As ensuring the Safety of its Customers is the Top priority of Toyota Motor Sales, USA, "We are making every effort to address this for our Customers, as soon as possible" said Toyota Division General Manager Bob Carter.
Toyota has investigated isolated reports of a sticking accelerator pedal mechanisms in certain vehicles without the presence of floor mats. There is a possibility that certain accelerator pedal mechanisms may, in rare instances, mechanically stick in a partially depressed position or return slowly to the idle position.
The vehicle Models requiring repair can be quickly determined, by reviewing the VIN number of each vehicle.
Toyota’s accelerator pedal recall and suspension of sales is confined to the following Toyota vehicles:
1. Some 2009-2010 RAV4 2. Some 2009-2010 Corolla 3. 2009-2010 Matrix
4. 2005-2010 Avalon 5. Some 2007-2010 Camry 6. Some 2010 Highlander 7. 2007-2010 Tundra 8. 2008-2010 Sequoia Toyotas Not affected by this recall are:
1. Prius 2. Tacoma 3. Sienna
4. Venza 5. Solara 6. Yaris 7. 4Runner 8. FJ Cruiser 9. Land Cruiser 10. Highlander Hybrids 11. Camry Hybrids |
