The 2016 Tundra comes standard with a 4.6-liter i-Force V8 engine that provides 310 horsepower and 327 lb.-ft. of peak torque. It also has an even more powerful option available with the 5.7-liter i-Force V8 engine. It provides 381 horsepower and 401 lb.-ft. of peak torque. Both V8 engine options feature an aluminum cylinder block and double overhead-cam heads with four valves per cylinder. They can each come teamed with a 6-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission.
2016 Toyota Tundra Towing Capacity
The 2016 Tundra is also powerful enough to have some impressive towing capabilities. The Tundra is able to tow up to 10,500 lb. thanks to its TripleTech frame. This refers to the wide, full-boxed rails for the full portion, a reinforced C-channel under the cab and an open C-channel beneath the bed for strength, ride quality and durability. The available Tundra Towing Package also upgrades the vehicle’s cooling and electrical systems. It also includes a TOW/HAUL shift mode for transmission. It adjusts throttle sensitivity and transmission shift control, favoring and holding lower gears when accelerating and decelerating to help improve control and safety.
