New for the 2019 model year will come a 2.0-liter Dynamic Force Inline 4 engine, featuring a 16-valve Dual Overhead Cam and Dual VVT-I intake system. What that means for you is that with its larger capacity, the Corolla Hatchback’s new motor has been left much more powerful, both in terms of initial takeoff and top-end horsepower. You can expect a maximum rating of 168 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque, both greatly upgraded from years prior.
In addition, the Corolla Hatchback’s drivetrain has been built with narrower belt angles and a reduced input load, making shifting much faster and easier. This, combined with the hatchback’s new Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT), gives you more powerful and predictable acceleration, as well as the ability to change gears and shift more smoothly than ever before!
