The fall season is packed with fun events from Labor Day to Thanksgiving. If you have room on your calendars to squeeze in one more day of fun, we have the events for you. All the spooky events listed below are kid friendly, and some even have multiple versions for the level of scare you desire. The best thing about these Halloween events? They’re all $10 or less and less than an hour drive from Palo Alto! Read on to learn more about the haunted houses and rides taking place near Palo Alto CA this October! 


Haunted House by Mountain View Odd Fellows 

This haunted house hits everything on our list: it’s inexpensive, close to home, and has a kid-friendly version. Located in Mountain View CA, this haunted house is free to enter; however, donations are appreciated and suggested at $1 for children and $5 for adults. Donations go to the Community Services Agency of Mountain view to aid hungry and homeless individuals. The theme of this haunted house is aliens, and the kid-friendly version will keep the lights on for a less frightening perspective.   


Haunted House @ SVE 

What’s better than a haunted house to complete your October? A haunted maze. The Haunted House @ SVE features two haunted rooms: one for a more laid-back experience, and one for thrill seekers. Tickets are $10 and the money will go towards next year’s equipment.  

Deer Hollow Farm’s Spooky Times 

Deer Hollow Farm’s Spooky Times has a little bit of everything: haunted barns, a ‘dark forest’, farm animals to meet, food and beverages, crafts, and activities. Come in your best Halloween attire; wear a costume and you’ll get a discounted entry fee.  

Haunted Train 

For something a little different this Halloween, get aboard the Ghost Train at Ardenwood Historic Farm in Fremont, CA. Passing through haunted woods, you’ll come across cowboys, pirates, witches, and more. Kids will enjoy this spooky ride, and nothing will pop out at them. Tickets are $10 per person.
