Memorial Day is an important time of the year on many fronts – for starters, it affords us all the opportunity to take a needed day off of work in order to pay our respects to our brave soldiers that have sacrificed their lives to keep our country safe. On the other side of the coin, Memorial Day Weekend is a fitting kickoff to the summer season, with plenty of great events for all. National Cemetery Memorial Day Ceremony
Leading off with a half-hour-long parade at 10:30 am and continuing with a formal program on National Cemetery grounds (ending with a 21-gun salute), San Francisco’s largest Memorial Day event is equal parts emotionally heavy and spectacular. We also recommend checking out the Presidio Chapel or taking a tour of the National Cemetery itself – both are great ways to get closer to those who have fought so bravely.
Oakland Athletics Baseball
There’s no better way to celebrate America than by catching a ballgame, so head on over to the Oakland Coliseum as the Athletics take on the Los Angeles Angels. It’s sure to be a great afternoon, with plenty of great times along the way!
Pier Pressure SF Memorial Weekend Yacht Party
If your idea of fun takes place on the water, take a ride on Hornblower Cruises’ Pier Pressure Yacht Party on May 26 – with three levels of music from Hip Hop throwbacks, EDM and Top 40 favorites, you’re sure to find a style to dance to – it looks like an awesome way to celebrate the long weekend!
BottleRock Napa
More music comes to the Bay Area over the weekend, in the form of BottleRock Napa. Top artists like Pharrell, Mumford + Sons, Logic and Imagine Dragons (and many more) will all be performing, making for quite the eclectic mix of fun grooves. Come on up to Napa and join the party!
