How Magnussen’s Toyota of Palo Alto is fighting climate change and promoting sustainability

What can you do in California to mitigate the effects of climate change? If you want to save polar bears, you can contribute to the Arctic Ice Project, implement conservation practices, and switch to a fuel-efficient vehicle. Magnussen’s Toyota of Palo Alto is using these three steps to fight climate change and promote sustainability. Keep reading below to learn more.

How can you support the Arctic Ice Project?

If you’ve never heard of the Arctic Ice Project, it is a leading non-profit in the climate restoration field. Its goal is to restore ice in the Arctic to help mitigate the impact of global warming. You can help support them by learning more at arcticiceproject.org and making a donation. We’ve done our part by rallying $20,000 in donations to the project, including a $10,000 contribution from Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., INC.

Why is Arctic ice important in fighting global warming?

Arctic ice has been melting at an alarming pace. This is a two-fold problem. The first issue that it creates is rising ocean levels which can displace coastal communities. The second issue it creates is a negative feedback loop: Arctic ice is important for reflecting the sun’s light, which helps keep our planet cool, so as it melts, our planet gets hotter, making it melt quicker.
