What is Included & Excluded in a Toyota Manufacturer’s Warranty?
A manufacturer’s warranty is what typically comes when you purchase a new Toyota vehicle. This warranty is designed to cover issues that occur within the first few months of owning the vehicle. Basically, the usual wear and tear that causes certain parts to break down are covered. This does not include tires, windshield wipers, brake pads, or batteries. There are three components that come with the manufacturer’s warranty.
The first is the powertrain warranty. The powertrain refers to the components that create kinetic energy. So, if something happens to the engine, transmission, or differential these will usually be covered under the warranty. However, if the engine breaks down a new one will not be covered. There is also a corrosion/rust warranty that will cover premature rust damage your vehicle may develop. Lastly, there is the bumper-to-bumper warranty. This is comprehensive and tends to cover most parts except for those that normally develop wear and tear.

Does Toyota Offer an Extended Warranty?
Toyota does offer an extended warranty. This is offered as an aftermarket warranty for when the manufacturer’s warranty expires. While not all models qualify for this warranty, our financial representatives can show you the vehicles at Magnussen’s Toyota of Palo Alto that do allow this type of warranty coverage. This warranty typically does not cover everything the manufacturer’s warranty does. This warranty can also become more expensive the longer you wait to add it on. You do, however, have normal wear and tear coverage as well as seal and gasket coverage with this warranty.
