What kind of engine does the 2017 Highlander have?

The 2017 Toyota Highlander release date is right around the corner, but there is still a lot to be learned about this new vehicle. Today we’re going to take a look at some of these upgrades and changes, including what kind of engines will be available with the 2017 Highlander.

2017 Toyota Highlander Specs

The 2017 Toyota Highlander has a new 3.5-liter V6 D-4S Injection engine and Direct Shift  8-speed automatic transmission. This revised powertrain is available for the new 2017 SE trim, giving the Highlander a sportier performance. This new engine option provides 295 horsepower and 263 pound per feet of torque, which is a significant increase from the 2016 model. Select Highlander models are also available with all-wheel drive that helps to  improve fuel efficiency. All Highlander V6 models also come standard with a towing package that provides a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds.

2017 Highlander New Safety Features

Besides having impressive performance capabilities, the 2017 Highlander also has a special focus on safety. This includes the integration of the all-new standard safety package called Toyota Safety Sense-P. This system includes a Pre-Collision System with Automatic Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Detection function. Other available advanced safety features include the Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and the exclusive Bird’s Eye View Camera with Perimeter Scan.
