What was Marty McFly’s dream truck?
October 21, 2015 was an exciting day where Back to the Future fans celebrated the film and took a look at how accurate its predictions for the future actually were. It was also the day that the Toyota Mirai was released. Toyota made the big reveal with a video that was filmed with the cast from the film. Toyota also made two Back to the Future vehicles, one is a custom version of the Mirai and the other is a real (updated) version of Marty McFly’s dream truck. But the question is, what was Marty McFly’s dream truck?
Marty McFly’s Dream Car
In Back to the Future, Marty McFly’s dream car is the is a custom version of the Toyota Tacoma. For this celebration, Toyota decided to reimagine it with the 2016 Toyota Tacoma, which went on sale earlier this year. A number of modifications were made to make it look like the truck from the film. These modifications included:
- Custom 1985 Toyota Truck Exterior Paint
- Off-road Suspension
- Toyota Racing Development (TRD) Wheels
- BFGoodrich Tires
- Custom front and rear Tubular Bumpers
- Customer light bar
- KC HiLites Gravity LED G46
- KC HiLites Daylighter Gravity LED
- Custom “D-4S” Fuel Injection Badging
- Custom Tailgate with Iconic “TOYOTA” Logo
- Custom Vintage Headlights and Taillight Design
- Mud Flaps 1985 Toyota Truck
Toyota also created a customized version of the Mirai for the celebration that resembled the Delorean from the film. This re-imagined version of Doc Brown’s time machine was complete with gullwing doors and a heads-up display of the time-traveling destination. The Mirai is also pretty futuristic, because it is one of the first vehicles to be powered by hydrogen. The only emission from the Mirai’s tailpipe is water.
