Toyota Safety Sense

What’s included with Toyota Safety Sense?

Over the last few years, automakers and the government have been working together to come to come to conclusions on how to make our vehicles better including increased efficiency and updated safety features. Toyota has taken the bull by the horns and now offers Toyota Safety Sense on most new models. These safety suite packages offer top-of-the-line features like automatic braking and pedestrian detection. Let’s dive in for details.

There are two forms of this safety package: Toyota Safety Sense C for compact vehicles and Toyota Safety Sense P for midsize and large vehicles. Toyota Safety Sense C is made up of three proprietary active safety technologies, which use both a camera and a laser for accuracy. Drivers with this package will have a Pre-Collision System with Vehicle Detection, Lane Departure Alert and Automatic High Beams.

Toyota Safety Sense P is comprised of four distinct features that use an in-vehicle camera as well as front-grille-mounted, millimeter-wave radar to increase overall performance. This package includes the following: Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection function, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist function, Automatic High Beams and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.

Toyota Safety Sense is designed to prevent accidents by focusing on three of the main causes: mitigating or preventing frontal collisions, helping to keep drivers within their lane and enhancing road safety during nighttime driving. However, this safety suite is not meant to give drivers a pass to be careless behind the wheel. Your vehicle is not driving itself, and it still relies on you to obey traffic signals, speed limits and laws.
