When new models hit the market, there’s also quite a bit of hype surrounding their release. It can be difficult to determine exactly what these vehicles have to offer or how they stand up to the competition without doing some detailed research. That’s where we come in! Our team here at Magnussen’s Toyota of Palo Alto is taking the time to provide detailed comparisons to show drivers how Toyota models compare to their competition.
This time around we’re focusing on the all-new 2017 Toyota Yaris iA. We’re going to compare it to the popular 2017 Ford Fiesta Hatchback model to show drivers what each one has to offer. To keep the comparison even, we’re only going to focus on the base, entry-level models for both vehicles. The 2017 Toyota Yaris iA will be compared to the 2017 Ford Fiesta S Hatchback.
2017 Toyota Yaris iA | VS | 2017 Ford Fiesta S Hatchback |
1.5L 4-cylinder | Engine | 1.6L I-4 |
6-speed manual - or - 6-speed automatic | Transmission | 5-speed manual |
30 city/39 hwy | MPG | 27 city/35 hwy |
34.4 inches | Rear Legroom | 31.2 inches |
As we can see from the chart above, the 2017 Toyota Yaris iA and the 2017 Ford Fiesta S Hatchback have quite a bit in common. Both are set with similar-sized engines, and each of them come standard with a manual transmission. However, the Yaris iA does offer an optional automatic transmission, which is not available on the base of the Fiesta Hatchback. Overall, the Yaris iA came out on top with a better fuel economy and more room for backseat passengers.
When it comes to safety, there are quite a few features drivers can count on both vehicles for having. These include anti-theft protection, child safety door locks, electronic traction control, low tire pressure indicators and stability control. The Yaris iA stands out from the Fiesta Hatchback with a standard brake assist system, which is not available on the other model.
We’re going to dive into some of the comfort and convenience features found on both of these vehicles. Drivers who choose either one of these models can look forward to the following features: keyless entry, MP3 player, power mirrors and locks, a rear split folding bench seat, steering wheel mounted controls and voice activated controls. There are quite a few standard features that set the Yaris iA apart from the Fiesta S Hatchback. The Yaris iA comes set with power windows, a backup camera, an outside temperature gauge and cruise control. None of these are available on the base of the Fiesta Hatchback.
